What Are The Types of Chiropractors in Broomfield?

Chiropractic care has undergone several changes since DD Palmer founded it in 1895.  It has evolved not just as curative (able to cure something, typically disease) branch of healthcare but also as a preventive healthcare.  In recent years, chiropractors have integrated many methods with the traditional spinal adjustment therapy to promote wellness among their patients.  These methods include nutritional supplementation, stress management, regular exercise, massage, homeopathy, among others.

From these changes and evolutions, three types of chiropractors have been recognized.  One type of chiropractor is the “mixing” chiropractor who employs different approaches to treatment such as physical therapy, nutrition, diet, electrotherapy, and ultrasound.  Another type of chiropractor is the “reform” chiropractor who relies mainly on manual approaches to treatment like touch and manipulation to pinpoint and cure disorders such as painful joints and osteoarthritis.  Reform chiropractors are not focused on looking for displaced spinal vertebrae like traditional chiropractors.  This makes reform chiropractors more aligned with medical doctors.

The last type of chiropractor is the “straight” chiropractor who focuses solely in correcting misaligned spinal vertebrae.  This type of chiropractor is considered as the traditional chiropractor who believes that spinal subluxations (misalignment of the vertebrae resulting in interference of nerve energy from the brain to the various body parts) are the cause of almost any ailment.

Chiropractic care has considerably evolved but this only shows how flexible chiropractors have become in addressing the needs of their patients.  It is not surprising that today, chiropractic care is the third largest healthcare profession in the United States- quite a feat from the humble beginnings it had.

Those living or working in Broomfield, can seek out a chiropractor of their choice to help them along their journey to better health and vitality.
